Neuroprotective mechanisms of various trophic factors during photoreceptor
degeneration have been demonstrated but mechanisms of action of these factors
remain to be elucidated. The project aims to identify and characterize signal
transduction pathways and signaling networks induced by candidate neurotrophic
agents within retinal tissue using immunological, proteomic and mass spectrometry-based
approaches.
Applicants must have a PhD in Biology or Biochemistry and should possess
strong background in retinal cell biology, morphology, immunohistochemistry
and protein separation/identification approaches. Experience with molecular
biology is desired but not required.
