NEUROTRAIN ::: VACANCIES ::: DESCRIPTION

Section of Neurodegeneration
Hertie-Institute of Clinical Brain Research
Tuebingen

Project-description:

Within this project, pathogenic processes related to mutations in the gene LRRK2 (leucine-rich repeat kinase 2), which cause an autosomal-dominantly inherited form of Parkinson's disease, will be studied. Transfection of different cell lines with full-length LRRK2 or with specific domains, wild-type or containing different mutations, will allow to study the effect on formation of tau- and/or alpha-synuclein aggregates. Furthermore, phenotype-genotype studies will be pursued to explain the functional consequences of mutations.
