Institute for Ophthalmic Research Scientific Afternoon
An introduction to the FIA (Institute of Ophthalmic Research). A meeting between staff of the FIA and the UKT. A social gathering among colleagues
Last week marked a milestone in our research institute when we warmly welcomed the staff from the UKT Administration with whom we regularly collaborate. As most of our interactions are limited to a virtual communication, mainly through emails and occasional phone calls, the idea of welcoming them on site to also introduce our institute was received with great enthusiasm by both sides.
It was an opportunity to show them our scientific activities and to network better beyond the limits of digital correspondence, finally putting a face to voices and emails.
Our director, Prof. M. Ueffing, gave a talk outlining the many activities and results of our institute (s. the video below).
The challenging lecture was followed by a much-needed coffee break, which provided a relaxed atmosphere for an informal exchange. Researchers and UKT staff chatted and took the opportunity to learn from each other. In this informal setting, questions were asked, experiences shared and contacts made.
Later in the day, the focus was on our researchers, who presented their projects and results in a poster session.
The photos show the genuine smiles and warm encounters that testify to the success of the day. The result suggests that this was the first part of a series of events
