Katrin Franke will talk about “Visual information processing in mice - from the retina to cortex”.

The Tübinger Neuro Campus (TNC) is inviting everyone to a special online talk by Katrin Franke (Baylor College of Medicine, Houston & Institute for Ophthalmic Research, Tübingen) on Thursday, October 12, at 4.00 pm.

Katrin Franke, who just received an ERC grant for her project “Tracing Visual Computations from the Retina to Behavior” (Eye to Action), will talk about “Visual information processing in mice - from the retina to cortex”.

Abstract:

Every second, millions of bits of information enter our eyes. How does the brain identify task-relevant information from this gigantic input stream? This key challenge of the visual system is tackled by substantially processing the sensory input for behavioral relevance. In my talk, I will present recent work focusing on how neuronal circuits across the early visual system of mice extract diverse visual features from the environment. For that, we combine population functional imaging in the retina and the visual cortex with machine learning tools for data analysis.

Everyone is cordially invited.
