RD2023 symposium travel awards

The Travel Awards were given to highly qualified trainees and early career investigators to attend both the RD Meeting and the BrightFocus Macular Fast Track

Lan Wang (AG Paquet-Durand) and Angela Armento (AG Ueffing) received Young Investigator travel awards for the XXth International Symposium on Retinal Degeneration RD2023in Torremolinos, Spain.

These 2 young scientists of the Institute for Ophthalmic Research Tübingen were awarded travel grants to participate and present their work at the recent RD2023 meeting held from Oct. 23 – 27 in Torremolinos, Spain:

Lan Wang presented the poster: The importance of the Cahill-cycle for cone survival.

Angela Armento presented the talk: iPSC-RPE cells carrying the Complement Factor H (CFH) Y402H polymorphism show impaired response to oxidative stress and promote retinal degeneration in a novel co-culture model for Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).

The Travel Awards were given to highly qualified trainees and early career investigators to attend both the RD Meeting and the BrightFocus Macular Fast Track, a pre-meeting workshop to help speed progress towards finding a cure for macular degeneration by investing in promising young scientists in the field of vision research.

“The Next Generation 2023 Travel Fellows” were selected by the Travel Award Commitee based on the quality of their submitted abstract.
