The first visit of the Supervisory Board of Directors
Since the move-in of the Institute for Ophthalmic Research in October 2016 the new premises enjoy great popularity. On December 9th, 2016 the Supervisory Board of Directors of the University Clinics in Tuebingen hold a meeting in the impressive building. Under the Chairman Hartmut Schrade the Members of the Board are Bernd Engler, Cornelia Ruppert, Peter Grathwohl, Wilhelm Rall, Ingrid Zech, rita Engenhart-Cabillic, Werner Hohenberger and Johann Graf flaned by the director of the Eye Clinic Karl-Ulrich Bartz-Schmid and the director of the Research Institute Marius Ueffing.
The Supervisory Board of Directors appoints, supervises and advises the University Hospital Executive Board of Directors. It is the decision-maker in respect of fundamental changes to the organisation of the University Hospital Tübingen, the appointment of (Medical) Directors, the determination of the economic plans and annual financial statements, and also in respect of legal transactions which have far-reaching consequences such as the formation of separate enterprises or investment in other companies. The position of Chairman is always held by a representative of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and Arts.
In addition, the University Hospital Executive Board of Directors consisting of Michael Bamberg, Gabriele Sonntag, Karl-Ulrich Bartz-Schmidt, Ingo Autenrieth und Klaus Tischler joined in the meeting.
The University Hospital Executive Board of Directors runs the University Hospital and is the supervisory authority for all the institutions belonging to the Hospital. It is also responsible for the organisation and the operational management of the Hospital. The Board - in joint co-operation with the Executive Board of Directors of the Faculty of Medicine as far as research and teaching are concerned - determines the structure and organisation of the University Hospital Tübingen, as well as the establishment, closure and changes regarding the University Hospital's Medical Departments, Departments, Institutes, Hospitals, Sections and Centres. In agreement with the Supervisory Board of Directors, it also appoints the (Medical) Directors and their official deputies.
