New Horizons in Ophthalmology 2020 cancelled

After thoughtful deliberation, we have decided to cancel the Horizons in Ophthalmology Meeting, planned to have taken place June 15 – 17, 2020 in Tuebingen.

Dear colleagues and friends,

During the last couple of weeks we have closely monitored the development of the coronavirus pandemic.  As of today, more than 500.000 individuals are reported to be infected with an ever-increasing death toll all over the world. We expect that this is just the beginning and COVID will severely hit Europe as well as the US in the next 6 months.

After thoughtful deliberation, we have decided to cancel the Horizons in Ophthalmology Meeting, planned to have taken place June 15 – 17, 2020 in Tuebingen.

This also takes into consideration that most universities and academic institutions have imposed travel restrictions that may hinder your travel to Tuebingen.

We urge those who have already booked their flights to cancel their flights immediately. In case you already had to face expenses for cancellation, please let us know, we will try to cover cancelation fees where possible.

At this point, we want to thank you as well as our organizational team in Tuebingen. We are grateful to you for your efforts to actively participate and we are grateful to everyone here in Tuebingen who has engaged in the planning of the meeting.

We hope, that we can have a meeting after recovery from corona pandemics in 2021.
And we hope we can celebrate that together and see you here in Tuebingen around the same time, from June 14 to June 16 in 2021.

Take care,
Ulrich Bartz-Schmidt and Marius Ueffing
