Research Interests
In my project, I use deep neural networks to model the representation and transformation of visual information in the brain. In collaboration with the lab of Laura Busse at LMU Munich, I use recorded neural activity of the thalamus, involving optogenetic silencing that reversibly manipulates the feedback from the visual cortex. The goal is to understand the functional role of the thalamo-cortical feedback circuit and make contributions to a general computational model of visual processing in the mammalian brain.
In general, I am interested in the fundamental principles of neural coding in larger networks and neural populations.
