German Funding Programme for Retinology

Dr Angela Armento (Tübingen) received the ‘German Funding Programme for Retinology’, endowed with 50,000 euros by Bayer Vital, for her project proposal ‘Molecular profile of an AMD model in triple culture for the CFH-402H high-risk variant’ during the DOG 2024 annual congress. 

In the funded project, the knowledge gained from RPE cell lines is to be tested on retinal organoids and ultimately verified on retinal human tissue. 

With the ‘German Funding Programme for Retinology’, Bayer Vital supports pioneering projects that can improve the understanding of ophthalmological diseases and expand therapeutic options. 

Since this year, the funding programme has been awarded by the DOG and the projects submitted are assessed by a DOG panel of experts.
