Eberhard Dodt Award 2024

The Eberhard Dodt Award 2024 has been granted to M. Alexander Günter

The Eberhard Dodt Award 2024 was granted to Alexander Günter from the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, Institute for Ophthalmic Research, Division of Ocular Neurodegeneration.

The Dodt Award is presented annually by an international jury at the annual meeting of the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV) to outstanding young scientists under the age of 35 who work in the field of clinical electrophysiology of vision and carry out respective research. This year the ISCEV took place in Québec, Canada.

It commemorates the former director at the Max Planck Institute for Physiological and Clinical Research, Prof. Eberhard Dodt, a pioneer in functional diagnostics of the visual system, and is endowed with €3,000.

Mr. Günter is only the third young German scientist to be awarded this prize since it was founded in 1996. His lecture entitled “Functional and morphological comparison of the Mongolian gerbil's visual streak with the human macula” focuses on the functional and morphological properties of a promising model for the human macula as a basis for future developments of therapeutic approaches.
