The 'Limits2Vision' International Research Training Group is offering up to 20 PhD positions.

We are excited to announce that up to 20 PhD student positions (funded for up to 3.5 years) will be available in Tübingen and Paris, starting on January 1, 2026.

To launch the limits2vision international research training group, two of the leading vision research institutes in Europe joined forces – the Institute for Ophthalmic Research (IOR) at the University of Tübingen and the Institut de la Vision (IDV) of Sorbonne Université in Paris – building on a long-standing scientific collaboration.

Now they are offering up to 20 PhD positions in the areas of genetics, information processing, and metabolism. A total of almost 20 positions are available in France and Germany, to be funded for up to 3.5 years. The researchers will be part of a large, multi-disciplinary team located at both institutions, that will regularly meet and exchange. The several research projects within the Limits2Vision programme will systematically unravel the mechanisms that allow the retina to successfully operate at biological limits.
